To My Readers Posted on September 15, 2017
With thousands of writers trying to get published each year, agents and booksellers are inundated with manuscripts. More than anything, I hear, “Publishers are looking for proven commodities.” And, much like TV and movies, the publishing industry prefers to target the eighteen to thirty-nine demographic group. What they seem to want to ignore is the potentially huge market of women readers over the age of fifty. (Do these women really only want to read about thirty-year old people?) For my money, women “of a certain age” should never be invisible!
I read a lot. I relish a good mystery or political thriller, and I like “real life” stories too. But sometimes, I want to dive into a novel that makes me laugh, make me cry, and makes me believe that love is still possible even if you aren’t so young anymore. I hope you feel the same way. And if you enjoy my books, please tell your friends.
